Hero Bio:
Joseph P. Garcia, was born at Silver City, New Mexico, in December 1891. Entered the Service from McGill, Nevada, May 27, 1918. Served in 5th Company, 2d Battalion, 166th Depot Brigade, Camp Lewis, Washington, to May 27, 1918; in Company E, 157th Infantry, 40th Division to September 15, 1918; and in Company E, 110th Infantry, 28th Division, until his death. Went overseas with 40th Division, August 8, 1918. Wounded in the Meuse-Argonne Offensive in the vicinity of Varennes, and died of his wounds on September 28, 1918. Person notified of death, Mrs. Merced Garcia, Albuquerque, New Mexico. All efforts to communicate with relatives or friends have failed. Private Garcia’s name is on the Honor Roll of White Pine County
